Fic: Caught (Awakening series) Spike/Xander
Title: Caught
Series: Awakening
Rating: PG (this part)
Spoilers for series: Up to season 3. Goes AU after Xander and Willow's first kiss before the Homecoming dance.
Summary: Xander corners Spike.
Disclaimer: I don't own Xander, Spike, or anything else associated with Buffy the Vampire Slayer. They belong to Joss Whedon.
Note: I bet people thought this series died and I fell off the face of the Land of Spander, right? Nope, just took a vacation and now that's over and it feels good to be writing these two again. ^_^ Hope you enjoy and feedback's always welcome!

“Okay, why are you following me?”

Spike stared at the boy, a slight smirk on his face. The fact that Xander had managed to catch him, not to mention surprise him, said something all on its own about the boy.

Of course, that didn’t mean he had to make it easy for him to find out what he wanted to know.

“Not sure what you’re talking about, mate.”

Xander rolled his eyes. “Oh please. I may not be the brightest crayon in the box but I know when I’m being followed, especially when it’s been happening for weeks.”

Even as he frowned over the way Xander so casually put himself down, Spike raised an eyebrow. “And you think it’s me followin’ you, that it?”

“You’re the only person…vampire that I know with hair that color.” He motioned in the general direction of Spike’s head. “Come on, there’s a reason they invented hats, you know.”

“Yeah, to give people hat hair so others could laugh at them,” Spike muttered.

Xander snorted, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips briefly before he became serious again. “Seriously, why are you following me? Is it to try and find some way to get to Buffy because I gotta tell ya, you’d probably be better off following her if that’s the case.” His eyes widened a bit. “Not that I want you following her because that’d probably mean you were trying to find a way to kill her and I don’t want her dead or anything so really you shouldn’t follow her at all.”

Spike smirked and decided that maybe it was time to let Xander in on the fact that he wasn’t following him to try and kill him. Hell, he wasn’t even going to try and kill the Slayer. “Relax, I’m not here to try and kill you or your little friends.”

“Okay.” Xander frowned. “Then why are you here? And I mean here as in Sunnydale.”

“Me and Dru broke up.” No sense in revealing why they’d broken up. At least, not yet. That would come later. Maybe.

“And that leads to you following me how?”

“Came back to kill the Slayer.” He noticed the way Xander tensed at that and shrugged. “Watched the way you all fought a group of fledges and decided you were more interesting to watch.” Which was true, mostly. The boy didn’t need to know that Spike kept wondering just how much darkness he had in him and how it’d feel to just take a small taste of him.

“So you’ve been following me because you think I’m interesting?”

“Are you lying? Because you’re evil and lying wouldn’t be that big a deal, right?”

Spike rolled his eyes. “No, I’m not lying.”

“How do I know that?”

There was a flash of teeth as Spike grinned. “Guess you’ll just have to wait and see now, won’t you?”

You REALLY need to keep going with this. This is great! I love how Spike sees Xander's potential, and I just love stalking!Spike fics anyway, so I'm loving this. *hugs you*

Thanks! *hugs back* Yeah, I just sort of drifted away from Spander for awhile there and then recently I was getting all antsy about it and wondering why the heck I hadn't written any Spander for so long. So I decided to fix it. More will be coming, promise!
