Oh hell.
Okay so the parentals went out of town on Thursday. They come back tomorrow. Well, that's fine. Normally it would mean that I'd have the house to myself. But they invited my brother to stay, which meant his girlfriend would be here too. And that was fine. They weren't doing so great - I mean he was tiring out easily because he couldn't afford to buy insulin and since he rarely comes over, he didn't know he had some here. So they said he could stay here.

Thing one? She brought her two year old son. Okay, fine, whatever. He's a cutie.

Then there's the food. As in, we're now running low on tons of stuff. Which again, okay. They're staying here and they've gotta eat. But seriously, all the snack foods and stuff that's for lunches? Uh, bye, nice having you in the pantry while it lasted.

There was also this whole big thing last night where my uncle actually picked me up from work since my brother and his girlfriend took off (guess who was babysitting? Did you guess my uncle? Gold star!) and then we hung out. Around 11:00, my uncle gets ahold of them and they say they'll be back within the hour.

Yeah, right. More like two or something. To top it off, they show up with a friend and each of them spent time downstairs with me and my uncle (who ended up staying the night since it got so late) but then all three went upstairs and left her son asleep on the couch until he woke up freaked out and wanted to go upstairs to his mom.

But the kicker? The reason I'm just...ARGH! That would be what I discovered less than thirty minutes ago. My mom left me the keys so I could check the mail. Well thank God I took them out of her purse on Thursday. Why? Because I just went to get the remote so I could watch TV in my room (whole thing where the same remote works for both TVs) and what do I find?

The door is locked. Now you're thinking, okay, just use the key to unlock it. Little problem with that. There is no key. It's one of those doors that only locks and unlocks from one side. I don't know when they locked it either. All I know is it had to be last night because I was just in there yesterday to check for messages on the machine. So it had to happen while I was at work or when the three of them were upstairs and I thought they were just watching TV.

My mom? Is going to be so pissed. Here's hoping her fiance has some kind of tool that could work because I'm telling you now that while I got close by trying to put something in that little hole in the doorknob, I didn't have any success. (I tested it by locking my door and leaving that open and trying to unlock that one thinking if it worked, I could unlock theirs. No such luck.)

So, if you guys have any suggestions, that'd be great. Because I'm fresh out and tomorrow? This is not going to be pretty when they get home.

*headdesk* I love my brother but I'm really wishing they had just told him he could come get his insulin and that's all. I wouldn't be having this problem then. *sigh*

God, I'm just going to go watch more of the anime Heidi let me borrow. I'm hoping it'll distract me.

-pats you on the back- Family can totally fucking suck. I realize this when my cokehead aunt comes into my house when nobody's here and is stealing our food.

-cuddles- I'm sorry, Nicole. But then again...somebody has to be the bad sibling, right? Brightside :D? /pathetic attempt to cheer you up

Thanks, Stephanie! And actually, you did cheer me up. I had to grin at your brightside and well, I've gotta say your icon certainly had me giggling. So consider your attempt a sucess! ^_^

Sounds like loads of fun. We had that happen where one of my wife's coworkers needed a place for her and her two kids (2 yr old twins) to stay because she left her husband. My wife told her she could stay over for a night or two until she could figure things out.

So my wife ends up watching her 2 kids and our daughter who was 1 at the time. When the woman gets off work at 2am she says she going to pick a few things up from her house and then come over. So what happens? She doesn't show up. She goes to a hotel room with her girlfriend and stays the night there while her kids are at our house with us who are total strangers to them.

To make matters worse she does it again the next day! And my wife had a trip to an amusement park planned so she ended up taking all 3 kids to that too. On day 3 she finally came and got her kids.

I always wonder how 'you can come over and stay' turns into 'I'll watch your kids for free while you go off and ignore them.'

Oh...the real reason of my reply was to say that I think all you have to do is find something long and straight to push a button in the doorknob. It should be right behind the hole but in a few inches. Could be wrong though.
Nicole: Gleeful!Sam - how could you resist?blue_icy_rose on May 29th, 2007 08:48 am (UTC)

*snorts* I'd love an answer to that question. Doubt I'll get one but still. That's just damn crappy to just leave her kid with your wife and then not show up for a few days. I'll never understand it.

Well, either way, I brightened my day with anime and then spending twenty bucks ordering comics from you, lol. I consider my day to be a success. *nods*

You were close. There's this little slot that you just put something in, like a flathead or whatever, and turn and voila! Door's unlocked. :)
